A super lightweight titanium High Accuracy Quartz from Seiko’s now iconic early 2000s Brightz collection.

Model: SAGJ003, 7J21-0AA0 Seiko Brightz

Year: October 2002

Features:

HAQ. In the original 2000s marketing for these High Accuracy Quartz, Seiko got mildly philosophical. The writer calls the time it takes light emitted by a star to reach your eye the “romance in errors”; the difference between how the star looks to you now, and how the star actually is in reality (many years in the “future” as far as your eyes are concerned). The writer invites you to set your watch to 0:00:00 at the stroke of Midnight on New Year’s Eve, and then wait a year. At 0:00:00 the following year this watch will have lost or gained a maximum of 20 seconds. The writer asks; what beauty can you find in these 20 seconds throughout the year?

High-End. On release, this full titanium HAQ cost ¥126,000 (equivalent to $1200 in 2004, not adjusted for inflation) and was part of Seiko’s high-end catalogue. Much like the 4S29 movement inside the Brightz SAGN005, or the 4S27 movement inside the Brightz SAGN003, the 7J21 movement inside this watch was at the top of Seiko’s class at the time of its release. In fact, other than the legendary 9F Grand Seiko HAQ (±10 seconds per year), the 7J21 is still one of the most reliable quartz movements made by Seiko (±20 seconds per year).

JDM. Released in the early 2000s, and only in Japan, this watch was hard to track down at the time and even harder to find in good condition now. Often seen as a bit of “grail” series, and a precursor to the ambition of Grand Seiko’s high movement specs and high spec finishing.

Condition: in very good condition overall. The titanium case and bracelet are in good condition but do have hairlines and marks throughout, but no damage is significant on the wrist. The case back has mild wear from the bracelet scratching it. The photos represent the condition clearly. Totally unpolished.

Scope: No box, manual or papers.

Movement: 7J21 HAQ. Five years of battery life, according to Seiko’s specs.

      FAQs

      Are your watches authentic?

Everything we sell is 100% authentic.

All of our watches are inspected and verified for authenticity - both inside and out. We have over 15 years of sourcing and collecting rare watches in Japan, which is often considered to be one of the best markets for authentic and fully original vintage watches.

      Do you ship globally?

We are based in Japan and regularly ship all over the world. We typically use FedEx and it takes:

      • 3-7 business days to reach North America
      • 3-7 business days to reach Europe
      • 3-7 business days to reach Asia and Oceania.

All of our packages are securely shipped, fully insured, and trackable door-to-door.

Are all of your watches serviced?

Most but not all of our watches are serviced. The "Condition" section of each watch will confirm if the watch has been serviced.

All of our watches are tested by an independent watchmaker - if a service is needed, the watch will be serviced. If a service hasn't been conducted, it's because the watch itself is too new to need a service, or there is evidence of a recent service.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment by all major Credit Cards and Wise.com

      What condition are your watches?

Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of the watches we typically sell, the condition varies from watch to watch. However, our photos are high resolution and our descriptions are accurate. You can buy with confidence knowing there won't be any nasty surprises.

If the condition of a watch is ever misrepresented, we would offer a full refund.

Do I have to pay customs or taxes?

It depends on so many factors, including but not limited to the cost of the watch, the type of watch you've bought (vintage or new), and the import laws of your country. If you're unsure we recommend checking the import laws that relate to your country before ordering.

      Are your watches water resistant?

Our serviced watches are typically tested to their original water resistant specifications, but we would never recommend pushing vintage or neo-vintage watches to their depth limits.

      What is your returns policy?

Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of most of our watches, we do not offer returns under normal circumstances. All sales should be considered final.
