Model: Seiko “Big Date” GCLP993 / 7R87-0AC0

Year: July 2016

Features:

The Complication. Whether we’re talking about mechanical movements or spring drives, the only high-end Seiko movement with a Big Date complication is the 7R87 Credor Spring Drive. And even more surprisingly, there are only a handful of models that even use the movement… and they’re all discontinued.

The Design. The GCLP993 resembles the smooth surface of a piano key. Adorned with painted a logo, markers, and power reserve indicator, it radiates pure elegance. Paired with one of Credor’s supple leather straps, it’s a refined choice - equally at home in the office or at a black-tie event.

The Spring Drive. The tactile ritual of winding a watch is hard to explain to those who haven’t experienced it - it’s almost meditative. Rolling the crown between my fingers in the early morning, as I wait for my espresso machine to warm up, becomes a cherished part of my daily routine. With the 7R87 Spring Drive, removing the automatic rotor not only enhances the manual-winding experience but also ensures that the beauty of the movement isn’t obscured.

The Dimensions. The absence of the rotor also trims down the case thickness, giving this Spring Drive a more traditionally dressy profile. At just 9.7mm thick, it’s slimmer than any Grand Seiko Spring Drive on the market.

The Finish. As expected from a Credor at this level, every detail is meticulously hand-finished, from the hands to the case and indices. A notable design choice is the fully polished case, which features no brushing whatsoever - a deliberate nod to vintage dress watches.

  • 4-12 business days to reach Asia and Oceania.

All of our packages are securely shipped, fully insured, and trackable door-to-door.

Do I have to pay customs or taxes?

It depends on so many factors, including but not limited to; the cost of the watch, the type of watch you've bought (vintage, new, or modified), and the import and tax laws of your country. If you're unsure we recommend checking the import laws that relate to your country before ordering.

Are your watches water resistant?

All of our watch mods are tested by our own pressure depth testing equipment, and are guaranteed to resistant water up to 50m of depth. Seiko Originals have varied levels of depth resistance, which will be stated in the description of each watch.

Can I modify an existing design?

We welcome all ideas! Get in touch via the Contact Us page and we can let you know the possibility and cost of any potential alterations.

What is your returns policy?

Due to the hand-made nature of the Seiko Mods, we offer a 7 day returns period after the watch has been received. The returner must bear the cost of the returns, and the watch must be returned in the same condition as it arrived. We do not offer returns on any bespoke or custom-made watches.

Due to the vintage nature of the Seiko Originals, returns are considered on a case-by-case basis, as vintage items typically have a no returns policy.
