Features:

The Wear. I’ve always loved vintage Grand Seikos, but the 4520-7000 was the first one I ever bought. Not just because it’s an early example of a 36,000 Hi-Beat Grand Seiko, but its peculiar case architecture makes it hard to resist. Add a sunburned dial and a worn case, and it was an obvious choice for a vintage watch that could masquerade as my daily beater.

The Availability. The 4520-7000 was only available for purchase in the 1969-1971 catalogues, making it one of the lesser-seen Grand Seikos from the vintage era. Despite this short production run, it was given three variants - stainless steel with a linen dial (on offer today), stainless steel with a charcoal dial, and a gold-capped case variant.

The Medallion. The gold medallion defined an era of Seiko. Immediately recognisable, but undeniably delicate. That isn’t to say they’re unwearable, but it’s always worth remembering it’s a 60-year-old piece of gold that’s been stuck to the steel with adhesive. It can deform, rub away, tarnish, and unceremoniously fall off. Fear not, this 4520-7000 has one final trick up its sleeve: a bespoke-made exhibition caseback.

The Caseback. You lose the iconic medallion, but you gain a clear view of the movement - arguably the most important part of any vintage Grand Seiko. The 4520-7000 on offer today only comes with the exhibition caseback. I’m not privy to what fate befell the original - perhaps it was damaged or fell off? Sadly, there’s always the chance an unscrupulous owner melted down the medallion at some point over the last six decades. Too precious for its own good.

Do I have to pay customs or taxes?

It depends on so many factors, including but not limited to; the cost of the watch, the type of watch you've bought (vintage, new, or modified), and the import and tax laws of your country. If you're unsure we recommend checking the import laws that relate to your country before ordering.

Are your watches water resistant?

All of our watch mods are tested by our own pressure depth testing equipment, and are guaranteed to resistant water up to 50m of depth. Seiko Originals have varied levels of depth resistance, which will be stated in the description of each watch.

Can I modify an existing design?

We welcome all ideas! Get in touch via the Contact Us page and we can let you know the possibility and cost of any potential alterations.

What is your returns policy?

Due to the hand-made nature of the Seiko Mods, we offer a 7 day returns period after the watch has been received. The returner must bear the cost of the returns, and the watch must be returned in the same condition as it arrived. We do not offer returns on any bespoke or custom-made watches.

Due to the vintage nature of the Seiko Originals, returns are considered on a case-by-case basis, as vintage items typically have a no returns policy.
