An incredibly rare, 1 of 40, watch from Seiko.
Model: Seiko SAGN00C / 4S27-00B0 Lapita Rainforest Edition
Year: December 2005
Features:
The Rarity. Only 40 were ever made. A grail so elusive, it’s barely Googleable. Seiko is renowned for their limited releases, but these usually come in editions of 1,000 or more. To find a release this small, you’ll need to turn to some very exclusive Grand Seikos, and even then you’re searching for air so rarefied that the prices can creep from tens to hundreds of thousands of Dollars.
The Design. The dial is a lush shade of green that I’m probably obligated to call “rainforest green”. It’s rich, deep, and features sunken subdials textured with a dotted pattern. Six sword-shaped hands oversee the intricately designed dial. The frog at 4 o’clock is the obvious highlight.
The History. Released in 2005, the Seiko “Lapita Rainforest” Brightz is shrouded in equal parts mystery and misinformation. The exact reference number remains unknown, with its name derived from an engraving on the caseback: Lapita Rainforest Edition. The widely accepted story is that this watch was produced in partnership with a charity dedicated to preserving the rainforests of the Lapita region in Oceania.
The Complication. The 4S27-00B0 watch features two crowns. The 24-hour hand moves gradually with the passing hours and is controlled, in conjunction with all of the hands, via the crown at 3 o’clock. The main hour hand, however, is independently adjustable using the secondary crown at 2 o'clock, jumping one hour at a time. This makes it a "True" or "Traveller" GMT.
The Case. The square, cushion-shaped case was a hallmark of Seiko’s Brightz collection in the early 2000s, seen in models like the SAGN, SAGJ and SAGV series. Sadly, Seiko hasn’t returned to this case design much since. The cushion-shaped case is crafted from solid titanium, with a bezel made from solid 18-karat gold.
Original Strap. The strap, made of green leather, is a perfect match for the case. It has ends moulded to curvature of the case, giving it the tight fit of a metal bracelet.
Condition: The watch is in near-perfect condition. Any markings are small and hardly noticeable.
Scope: Full box and papers. All original.
Movement: 28-jewel, 4S27 “True” GMT movement

FAQs
Are your watches authentic?
Everything we sell is 100% authentic.
All of our watches are inspected and verified for authenticity - both inside and out. We have over 15 years of sourcing and collecting rare watches in Japan, which is often considered to be one of the best markets for authentic and fully original vintage watches.
Do you ship globally?
We are based in Japan and regularly ship all over the world. We typically use FedEx and it takes:
- 3-7 business days to reach North America
- 3-7 business days to reach Europe
- 3-7 business days to reach Asia and Oceania.
All of our packages are securely shipped, fully insured, and trackable door-to-door.
What condition are your watches?
Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of the watches we typically sell, the condition varies from watch to watch. However, our photos are high resolution and our descriptions are accurate. You can buy with confidence knowing there won't be any nasty surprises.
If the condition of a watch is ever misrepresented, we would offer a full refund.
Are all of your watches serviced?
Most but not all of our watches are serviced. The "Condition" section of each watch will confirm if the watch has been serviced.
All of our watches are tested by an independent watchmaker - if a service is needed, the watch will be serviced. If a service hasn't been conducted, it's because the watch itself is too new to need a service, or there is evidence of a recent service.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by all major Credit Cards and Wise.com
Do I have to pay customs or taxes?
It depends on so many factors, including but not limited to the cost of the watch, the type of watch you've bought (vintage or new), and the import laws of your country. If you're unsure we recommend checking the import laws that relate to your country before ordering.
Are your watches water resistant?
Our serviced watches are typically tested to their original water resistant specifications, but we would never recommend pushing vintage or neo-vintage watches to their depth limits.
What is your returns policy?
Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of most of our watches, we do not offer returns under normal circumstances. All sales should be considered final.
