Model: LHAM602; 4S15-0020

Year: April 1996

Features:

The History. Released in 1995, this cream coloured LHAM602 was released alongside the 600 and 601. This trio can be seen as "hidden" Alpinists due to the similarities they have with both the original 1959 Laurel Alpinist, and the 1995 SCVF Alpinists. The LHAM602 is the rarest of the three, and tracking one down is no easy task, even in Japan!

The Alpinists. The LHAM602 uses the same “Hi-Beat” movement as Shigeo Sakai’s legendary SCVF Alpinists. Furthermore, the darker-coloured LHAM600 has the same Mountain-inspired indices as the Black SCVF005, and the lighter-coloured LHAM601 opts for Arabic numbers just like the Cream SCVF007. A design trend Seiko has carried forward in every generation of Alpinist since, which has undeniably made the LHAM Laurels a hidden part of Seiko's Alpinist collection. An absolute must watch for Japanese watch collectors.

The Look. The LHAMs are undoubtedly the dressy option when compared to the more traditionally sporty looking SCVFs, but the LHAM602 takes it to another level with the unexpected inclusion of Roman Numerals - nothing something you'll find on any other Alpinist-adjacent watch. They elevate the watch for me, cementing its place as my favourite of the three.

The Design. The creamy-hued dial features a unique stucco texture. It’s equal parts unusual and intriguing, giving the face of the watch a wonderfully matte finish. Everything is encompassed in mirror-polished stainless-steel case, featuring a small onion crown. The polished caseback features a laurel leaf motif around its edge.

The Bracelet. The original stainless-steel bracelet, designed to look like a throwback to the vintage stylings of Seiko's original bracelets.

Specifications:

Condition: In great condition overall. The only mark of any significance is a tiny scratch on the crystal above the 8 o’clock indices. This isn’t something you’ll notice on the wrist, and I suspect most people would have been unlikely to notice it even on close inspection. It’s visible in the primary photo above (as it intersects the III of the VIII).

Scope: No box or papers.

FAQs

Are your watches authentic?

Everything we sell is 100% authentic.

All of our watches are inspected and verified for authenticity - both inside and out. We have over 15 years of sourcing and collecting rare watches in Japan, which is often considered to be one of the best markets for authentic and fully original vintage watches.

Do you ship globally?

We are based in Japan and regularly ship all over the world. We typically use FedEx and it takes:

  • 3-7 business days to reach North America
  • 3-7 business days to reach Europe
  • 3-7 business days to reach Asia and Oceania.

All of our packages are securely shipped, fully insured, and trackable door-to-door.

What condition are your watches?

Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of the watches we typically sell, the condition varies from watch to watch. However, our photos are high resolution and our descriptions are accurate. You can buy with confidence knowing there won't be any nasty surprises.

If the condition of a watch is ever misrepresented, we would offer a full refund.

Are all of your watches serviced?

Most but not all of our watches are serviced. The "Condition" section of each watch will confirm if the watch has been serviced.

All of our watches are tested by an independent watchmaker - if a service is needed, the watch will be serviced. If a service hasn't been conducted, it's because the watch itself is too new to need a service, or there is evidence of a recent service.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment by all major Credit Cards and Wise.com

Do I have to pay customs or taxes?

It depends on so many factors, including but not limited to the cost of the watch, the type of watch you've bought (vintage or new), and the import laws of your country. If you're unsure we recommend checking the import laws that relate to your country before ordering.

Are your watches water resistant?

Our serviced watches are typically tested to their original water resistant specifications, but we would never recommend pushing vintage or neo-vintage watches to their depth limits.

What is your returns policy?

Due to the vintage and neo-vintage nature of most of our watches, we do not offer returns under normal circumstances. All sales should be considered final.
