Seiko LHAM600; 4S15-0020 "Laurel"
Model: LHAM600; 4S15-0020
Year: May 1997
Features:
The History. Released in 1995, this dark blue LHAM600 was a dressed up version of the 1959 Laurel Alpinist - the first ever Alpinist (named after the Japanese Alps, not the ones in Europe).
The Alpinists. The LHAM600 uses the same “Hi-Beat” movement as Shigeo Sakai’s legendary SCVF Alpinists. Furthermore, the darker-coloured LHAM600 has the same Mountain-inspired indices as the Black SCVF005, and the lighter-coloured LHAM601 opts for Arabic numbers just like the Cream SCVF007. A design trend Seiko has carried forward in every generation of Alpinist since, which has undeniably made the LHAM Laurels a hidden part of Seiko's Alpinist collection. An absolute must watch for Japanese watch collectors.
The Look. The clean layout gives the LHAM600 a dressy appearance while still embodying the essence of an Alpinist. Arguably, they make for a sharper-looking everyday watch, especially in an office environment, than any of the Sportier Alpinists.
The Design. A soft blue dial, with applied Mountain-inspired silver hour markers, and silver dauphine hands, all encompassed in mirror-polished stainless steel case, featuring an small onion crown. The polished caseback features a laurel leaf motif around its edge.
The Bracelet. The original stainless steel bracelet, designed to look like a throwback to the vintage stylings of Seiko's original bracelets.
Condition: The watch is in great, seemingly unworn condition. There are a some minor scratches, but overall the watch is incredibly clean especially given its age.
