Seiko SCVF005; "Red" Alpinist
Seiko SCVF005; "Red" Alpinist
Model: SCVF005
Year: May 2001
Features:
The Movement. Using one of Seiko’s s very well advertised and known “Hi-Beat” movement (28800 bph), resulting in silky smooth sweep, especially when you consider the watch is almost 30 years old. The watch has just been serviced by Seiko Japan, and is currently running at an average of +1 seconds per day, averaged over three main positions.
Alpinist. The Alpinist series started in the 1960s with the release of the Seiko “Lauren” Alpinist. Designed to be used as an outdoor watch by Japanese mountain climbers, it is perhaps more well known to modern collectors as the series that contains the SARB017. All Alpinists are released as part of Seiko’s “Prospex” (professional specifications) line, as they are built to be rugged and regularly worn.
The Bezel. Now a feature of all Alpinists, it can be used to determine your bearings if you can currently see the Sun. Works very smoothly, with no binding/sticking and absolutely no loss of colour due to aging.
The Bracelet. The original bracelet, able to accommodate up to a 7.25-inch (18.5cm) wrist.
Condition: In great condition overall, and just serviced by Seiko. The crystal, cyclops dial and hands are all clean. The bezel has a couple of impossible to spot hairlines, but is in great condition in general. The case has a couple of marks on the lugs (visible in the photos), but is in otherwise very good condition. Slight fading on the Red N (compass bezel). Lume in good and functional condition. Like 99% SCVF Alpinists, the polished caseback has been scuffed and scratched by its own bracelet over the years.
Scope: No box or papers, so it will be packed in a secure leather travel case.
Movement: 4S15 automatic 28800bhp, recently serviced by Seiko Japan and averaging +1 seconds per day across three main positions.

All of our watch mods are tested by our own pressure depth testing equipment, and are guaranteed to resistant water up to 50m of depth. Seiko Originals have varied levels of depth resistance, which will be stated in the description of each watch.
Can I modify an existing design?
