Seiko SCVF007; "Red" Alpinist
Seiko SCVF007; "Red" Alpinist
Model: SCVF007
Year: April 1995
Features:
The Movement. Using one of Seiko’s s very well advertised and known “Hi-Beat” movement (28800 bph), resulting in silky smooth sweep, especially when you consider the watch is almost 30 years old. The movement has been regulated to an average of +8 seconds per day across three main positions.
Alpinist. The Alpinist series started in the 1960s with the release of the Seiko “Laurel” Alpinist. Designed to be used as an outdoor watch by Japanese mountain climbers, it is perhaps more well known to modern collectors as the series that contains the SARB017. All Alpinists are released as part of Seiko’s “Prospex” (professional specifications) line, as they are built to be rugged and regularly worn.
The Bezel. Now a feature of all Alpinists, it can be used to determine your bearings if you can currently see the Sun. Works very smoothly, with no binding/sticking and absolutely no loss of colour due to aging.
The Bracelet. The original bracelet, able to accommodate up to a 7 inch (18cm) wrist.
Condition: The watch is in great condition overall. The dial and crystal are perfect, with no visible marks or damage. The case itself has shallow hairlines but nothing significant or troubling. The case back has a small damaged section, but the original Alpinist design is still visible. Bracelet is very good overall, and any abrasions are shallow and inoffensive. The photos are representative of the condition. The watch was serviced last year and is currently running at +3 seconds, averaged across three positions.
Scope: No box or papers, so it will be packed in a secure leather travel case.
Movement: 4S15 automatic 28800bhp, regulated to an average of +8 seconds per day across three main positions.
